Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

Carl Jung

How I work

My Philosophy

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a wide range of theories, mainly Psychodynamic and Humanistic to create a holistic, tailored approach that honours your individual needs, experiences and values.

I’m passionate about equality and diversity and I warmly welcome clients from all backgrounds.

Theories and practices I draw from

Psychodynamic Therapy

This approach explores how past experiences shape your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the present. It helps bring unconscious patterns into awareness with compassion and understanding, allowing you to make sense of what’s beneath the surface.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA looks at the life script we form in childhood, the beliefs and behaviours we learned to survive and belong. These patterns can become outdated and limit our autonomy as adults. TA is especially helpful for understanding communication and relationships. An example being the Parent, Adult, and Child ego states (PAC) model.

Parts Work

Parts work involves exploring and connecting with different aspects of yourself. The parts that protect, the parts that feel, the parts that carry old stories. Some parts may dominate at times, while others feel unheard. Working with an all parts welcome approach helps you understand inner conflicts with curiosity and compassion. So these parts can work together rather than against one another.

Attachment Theory

Attachment theory helps us understand how early relationships shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world. Our attachment style can influence how we connect, trust, and respond in relationships. Exploring this can bring clarity to long‑standing emotional patterns.

Gestalt

Gestalt focuses on the whole person, mind, body and emotions. It encourages awareness of your present moment experience and how different parts of you interact, helping you feel more integrated and grounded.

Existential Therapy

This approach brings together philosophy and psychology to explore meaning, purpose, freedom, and your place in the world. It supports you in understanding how you relate to life’s challenges and choices.

Psychoeducation

Learning about how the mind and body respond to stress, anxiety, or trauma can increase self‑awareness and give you tools to navigate difficult moments. For example, understanding the fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses can help make sense of overwhelming feelings.

Somatic Work

Somatic work focuses on the body’s wisdom, noticing sensations, tension, and emotional signals that often speak before words do. It helps you connect your physical experience with your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Creative and Structured Approaches

These methods engage mind, body and emotions through tools such as shells, timelines, nesting dolls, parts cards, emotion cards, mind‑mapping, and guided exercises. They can offer new perspectives, deepen insight, and make inner work feel more accessible.

The Therapeutic relationship

While theories and approaches are valuable tools, I believe the foundation of therapy lies in genuine human connection. Many of us carry unmet needs from childhood which can shape the patterns we repeat in the present.

A genuine, trusting relationship can be profoundly healing. The core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence along with mutual trust and respect form the foundation of which I work from.

Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive change. I share the philosophy expressed by Richard Erskine  'We are hurt in relationship, and we heal in relationship.'

Our early relational experiences shape us and it is through safe, attuned connection that we can begin to repair, grow, and transform.

Therapy can be both challenging and deeply rewarding. I believe we all hold the capacity to heal. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you, helping you reconnect with your voice, deepen self‑acceptance and grow into a life that feels fulfilling, meaningful and that is authentically yours.
